Jim Covarrubias and Ashley Harder's creative partnership started in 2015 when they met while working on an exhibition of his paintings in Phoenix, Arizona. At this time Covarrubias was showcasing his artworks at the Arizona State Senate Building. That exhibition titled 'Visions of Arizona' was sponsored by State Senator Catherine Miranda as a memorial for her late husband Ben Miranda, to whom Jim was a long-time friend. Harder, a strong patron of the Arizona arts community took an interest in the Senate exhibition; it inspired her to a new potential for showing art in Arizona. The Collection was then formed, in partnership, pulling together of a larger body of Covarrubias’ work, including all the paintings in the Senate exhibition. These collected works offer a representation of Jim Covarrubias’ long and diverse career as an Arizona artist; a visual storyteller and renowned artist whose work depicts the histories of the Southwest and its people. And the story continues...
It is an honor and a privilege to introduce “The Covarrubias Collection.”
